Instructions
Step 1: Fry the sliced onion in the vegetable oil until golden, then add the ginger paste and garlic paste.
Step 2: Add the diced beef with the chilli powder, ground turmeric and salt and sear it well.
Step 3: Pour in the water and add the soaked cracked wheat, chana dal and red lentils.
Step 4: Simmer gently, stirring often, until the grains break down and the beef shreds easily.
Step 5: Pound the mixture against the side of the pot until thick and smooth, then stir in the garam masala.
Step 6: Serve topped with fried shallots, fresh coriander and lemon wedges.
