Instructions
Step 1: Knead the plain flour, half the salt, two tablespoons of vegetable oil and the water into a soft dough; rest 20 minutes.
Step 2: Mash the boiled chana dal with the onion, cumin powder, chilli powder, ground turmeric and remaining salt into a dry filling.
Step 3: Stuff a ball of filling into each dough ball, seal and roll gently into a flat round.
Step 4: Deep-fry the puris one at a time in the remaining oil until puffed and golden.
