Instructions
Step 1: Rub the hilsa fish steaks with the ground turmeric, chilli powder and salt and rest for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Heat the mustard oil until lightly smoking and fry the fish for 5–6 minutes a side until crisp and cooked through.
Step 3: Briefly fry the green chilli in the oil and serve it with the fish and a spoonful of the oil over rice.
