Instructions
Step 1: Dry-roast the moong dal in a heavy pot until it smells nutty, then rinse it with the washed kalijira rice.
Step 2: Heat the ghee and fry the onion and bay leaf until the onion is golden.
Step 3: Stir in the ginger paste and ground turmeric, then add the rice and moong dal and fry for two minutes.
Step 4: Pour in the hot water, add the salt and green chilli, bring to the boil and simmer partly covered, stirring often, until soft and porridge-like.
